One Week Left

June 13th, 2009 - Elysium News

Just under a week now before the 19th of June and then we’re all going to be enjoying the beauty, fun, relaxing and inspirational times at Elysium. I’m excited to have more spaces and more faces at this year’s event, so tell all of your cool friends to come along so they don’t miss out on one of the best events of the year. We have a phenomenal line up this year to blow you away with an even better EAW Line Array sound system then previous years. (Check out the line up at Elysiumfestival.org) Our Bazaar area is going to be insanely fun with a small acoustical size stage pumping tunes from the main stage, broken up with smaller fun acts to entertain you while you enjoy free drinks from the bar, yes that’s right. And our Coffee guys are back, plus we’ll be serving up some tasty delights to tingle your taste buds. And let’s not forget that we’ll have various artistic vendors selling their fun creations so you can look good while you’re feeling good hanging out in the trippy décor created by our very own Hand Chop and his fabulous team.

Once again this year we will have Healysium providing a Zen healing space for yoga, massage, energy work and deeper conversations of a spiritual nature. If you have items of the Zen nature such as chimes, bamboo creations, statues, alter items, cushions or rugs please feel free to contribute to the collaborative energy of this area. If you would also like to share your knowledge and expertise in regards to any subject of a healing nature please contact Katya to see how you can share. Healysium will be located just north and just off to the right of the road after passing the main stage and shower block.(If you run into the Tiki Fucko’s Dome and their margaritas you’ve gone too far, but that’s how those Tiki Fucko’s do it.)

A chill lounge area will also be set up just south of the Bazaar area with more ambient tunes and chill visuals. This will be a communal area and once again if you have extra carpets, rugs, futons, cushions, seats, art and anything that you feel would contribute to a chill lounge please feel free to contribute. This will also be an area for acoustical & percussion musicians to create jam sessions with didgeridoos, drums, guitars, accordions, etc. We would love for people to feel welcome to share their talents with the rest of the community so they too can participate.

The Art Creation Station is back once again and will be located in the same spot as last year between the stage and the river. Please come and create crazy fun art as there will be some projects to create as well as the usual paint, pipe cleaners, hats, feathers, black light stuff and costume wares to cut up, sew, paint and create your own style. If you have cool fun costuming clothes you haven’t worn in some time then please bring and share. Someone else will probably look good in it.

Eon ranch is back in their riverside location just to the left of the entry bridge and will be BBQ legends

Wow, I feel like I’m writing an essay and I still haven’t finished.

I’m going to finish with a few rules, we don’t have a lot by regular event standards, however the rules we do have are important to the success, enjoyment and safety of the event.

  1. No GLASS. Simple, no bottles, glasses or stuff that will break. This is by regulation of the Indian Reservation; please respect this as it is for our protection and the protection of the reservation. Bring your booze in plastic bottles and consume it in a non glass vessel. Don’t cry if we confiscate it and give it away at the bar. We will be having a party at the main gate, a search party, so please don’t be offended if security wants to take a peak in your vehicle. This is a biggie so I thank you in advance for your co-operation.
  2. No cars parked in the Village area (camp 7). RV and in car camping is in the Burbs south of the gate. This is so we can create the event area we all can appreciate as a community. There will be some exceptions for event production only. We have a transportation plan in effect so be patient and understand that these decisions are based on what’s best for the event and ultimately our community.
  3. No amplified sound which is not associated with the event. We will be shutting down all sound for an environmental nature break Saturday morning so peeps can sleep. Sunday morning the sound will be low and mellow for the early part of the morning. Please be respectful of your neighbors and your volume, being loud and obnoxious to your neighbors is not cool and will not be tolerated. Once again these decisions are for the benefit of the community as a whole.
  4. 21 years and up event, bring your ID.
  5. This one is not so much a rule but more of a request. Please do not get belligerently intoxicated or allow your friends to do so. We have a very open and welcoming community and this event has been created to provide a place where people can be safe and are able to be expressive and creative among other respectful people. Drinking is a big part of the fun we have and allows many of us to enjoy our time at our events. However we have learned that too much alcohol creates situations where boundaries are crossed and unwanted issues arise. We would rather that not happen at this event. At this event our friends are our family and our responsibility. Please help us all have a great time and create an amazing vibe so that we can all experience and understand the true meaning of being in the world of Elysium.

Thank you all for your understanding, your appreciation and your participation in making Elysium the place, the event and the dream that we all have as a creative community.

Peace, Love and Banging Beats,
Kiwi and the Elysium Team
